Editing Camp H 2014 - Part 5: Miss Camp Hollywood

Before and After versions of 2 photos
Once again, this will be a behind the scenes breakdown of a couple photos from my photos from Camp Hollywood 2014. Shooting at the Miss Camp Hollywood contest had a different set of challenges in the light "setup."

For one thing, I don't have any experience with fashion/glamor/vintage photography, so I have to feel my way around as I go.

Editing Camp H 2014 - Part 4: Different Lights, Same Ideas

In this post, I'll apply the same composition ideas to a different lighting setup in my photos from Camp Hollywood 2014, showing emphasis through contrasting warm and cool.

Editing Camp H 2014 - Part 3: Finishing Touches

Left: Only applying the preset from Part 1 and Part 2, Right: Final image
In this entry, I'll return to the photo from Part 1 and go over what I'm thinking about with the finishing touches. Once again, this is one of my photos from Camp Hollywood 2014 from the amateur Lindy finals.

Editing Camp H 2014 - Part 2: Dealing With LED Lights

This continues my notes on editing my photos from Camp Hollywood 2014 with some examples from Lineage Dance.

This time, maybe I'll just have a venting session. This entry is a very long way of saying "I adjusted the Color Calibration Blue Primary Saturation to -40, but that doesn't always work, especially if your primary light is LED."

First, let me point out the lights I'm talking about.  The LED lights are at the top of the "Camp Hollywood" banner seen in the wide shots(first column). They cycled between red, yellow, green, blue, and some kind of violet and/or magenta.

Temperature 2500, Tint +12, Exposure +0.5, NO SATURATION ADJUSTMENT

Editing Camp H 2014 - Part 1: Color and Presets

(left) Original photo from camera with Tungsten white balance, (right) Final edited photo

I recently finished processing and releasing my photos from Camp Hollywood 2014.  Doing this occupied the majority of my non-dancing free time for the 7 or so weeks after the camp.  I have a few notes and comments about why it took so long, and what I was thinking about.

I'll spend a few posts describing what I did to edit this photo (from Amateur Lindy Finals) and my goals in composition. Then I'll apply the same ideas to a couple other photos. Then I'll wrap it up discussing my overall process.
